Impressive Rules Debut For Exciting Getaway Gelding
Bentraghhill (4g Getaway - Itsalark, by Definite Article) made a winning start under rules with an impressive score at Leopardstown on Sunday.
The four-year-old finished a promising third in a point-to-point at Fairyhouse in April before selling to Willie Mullins and Harold Kirk for €150,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland May Sale.
Ridden by Jessica Townend, the son of Getaway was in touch with the leaders and came to press the leader four furlongs out in the bumper. Bentraghhill took up the lead with three furlongs left to run and pulled four and a quarter lengths clear from Nine Toes Tim (by Order Of St George) at the line.
Mullins said: “I was expecting that. I was amazed Patrick [Mullins] didn't make it back from Limerick to ride him here. He'd shown me plenty at home and I was very happy.
"He's a nice type, a big chasing type and I'm very happy with him. He'll stay in bumpers and go jumping next season."
Bentraghhill was bred by Frank Motherway and Kevin Curtin.
