Damoso (vadamos) Ballinrobe

In-Form Vadamos Posts Ballinrobe Double

Damoso (4g Vadamos - Compose, by Anabaa) got off the mark when running out a straightforward winner over hurdles at Ballinrobe on Monday.

The Philip Rothwell-trained gelding was settled towards the rear of the field under Simon Torrens but began to make headway before three flights out. The son of Vadamos came home to win by a comfortable two-and-a-half-lengths.

Torrens said: “I thought he ran a nice race the last day. I’d say he’s probably still learning plenty.

“He was probably a bit babyish there still. I was hoping again for another good run, I didn’t expect him to go and win but thought he should be in the shake-up as it didn’t look a great race on paper.

“When I grabbed a hold of him from the back of the last in fairness he’s ground it out well.”

The four-year-old was bred by Motabower House Stud.

King Of Kingsfield (7g Vadamos - Passion Planet, by Medicean) completed a double on the card for Vadamos when landing the two-mile-and-one-furlong chase by an easy eight lengths.

A Grade 1-placed performer when second in the 2023 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle, the seven-year-old was following up his Galway victory last month for Gordon Elliott and Gigginstown House Stud.

Winning rider Jack Kennedy said: “It was very straightforward. It was a bit of a blow out really.

“He jumped great and I was very happy with him. My lad started following the leader a little bit, going left, but he jumped very well bar that.

“He’s a more relaxed horse over a fence, he used to be very hard on himself over hurdles. He’s hopefully on an upward curve.”

King Of Kingsfield was bred by Patrick Turley.
