Progressive Son Of Vadamos Secures Leopardstown Listed Win

Champagne Kid (6g Vadamos - Treacle Noir, by Raise A Grand) secured Listed honours when landing his second win in a row at Leopardstown on Monday.

Trained by Pat Collins, Champagne Kid had landed a maiden hurdle contest at Punchestown last month and followed up with a three-and-a-half-length win in the Listed Premier Handicap Hurdle.

The six-year-old was ridden by Eoghan Finegan and the pair were positioned prominently before taking up the lead at the fourth flight. Champagne Kid was challenged from two hurdles out but went clear from before the last to strike readily.

Collins’ son and assistant trainer Sean said: “He’s really turned a corner since his run in Listowel. He’s the sort of horse that gets himself fired up for the occasion whether it’s his work or just a bit of cantering.

“Eoghan gave him a great ride and is a jockey going places.

“We might come back here for the Dublin Racing Festival or maybe Cheltenham. You never know! He’s a good horse and we’re lucky to have him.”

Champagne Kid was bred by Tally-Ho Stud.
