Smart Four-Year-Old Maiden Winner by Crystal Ocean

Cristal D’Estruval (4g Crystal Ocean – Aurore D’Estruval, by Nickname) provided Crystal Ocean with his first success between the flags when making a winning debut at Lisronagh on Sunday.

Partnered by Barry O’Neill in the first division of the four-year-old geldings maiden, Colin Bowe’s charge raced prominently throughout. The bay showcased a game attitude as he was forced to battle from the final fence, and dug deep to deny the favourite by a neck on the line, the pair rallying 20 lengths clear of the third.

Bred by The Beeches Stud and Grange Stud, Cristal D’Estruval will now be offered for sale. The €70,000 foal hails from the first crop of Crystal Ocean, as is impressive debut bumper winner Watamu and the 109-rated stayer Wild Waves.
