Vadamos Gelding Lands Maiden Win Over Hurdles
Piccolo Player (4g Vadamos - Mexican Sky, by Yeats) got off the mark over hurdles at the second attempt when winning at Limerick on Tuesday.
The John Ryan-trained gelding was ridden by Michael Kenneally and he took up the lead after two flights. Piccolo Player kept on well to repel runner-up Torps (by Mahler) by a length and a quarter at the line.
Ryan said: “It's great for Tommy [James, owner-breeder] who has had a few horses with me and this one is the best one since Lucid Dreams.
"He is still raw and we'll look for a little novice hurdle somewhere now."
James added: "He's a lovely big horse and is still a big baby. He had a lovely run the first day, which crowned him. He learned a lot that day and still learned to race even when he got tired.
"This is hopefully the horse to replace Lucid Dreams."
