Vadamos Gelding Takes Punchestown Bumper
Baron Noir (5g Vadamos – Scooping, by Dylan Thomas) justified connections’ decision to travel to the Punchestown Festival when winning the concluding bumper on Thursday.
The Vadamos gelding made a winning start for Alan King in December and went on to finish third to an unbeaten rival in a Listed bumper at Newbury. Partnered by Rob James at Punchestown, he raced in midfield for much of the way waited for a gap to appear in the straight. Ridden from two furlongs out, he led by the final furlong and ran on well to score by a length and a half, with another six lengths back to the third.
“It was a good performance,” said Noel Fehily, representing the Noel Fehily Racing Syndicate. “I was a bit worried as it looked like he was trapped down the inner and not getting much room, but he was in experienced hands, and he flew home. I’m delighted with him.
“The syndicate were keen to come over and we’d love to bring more horses over in the future. He’ll go hurdling next season.”
The improving son of Vadamos was bred by Shane Lawlor and Marry Butterfield.
