$350,000 Filly Leads Munnings Offerings at OBS March

It was a big OBS March 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale for Munnings, who saw all five of his juveniles sell, led by a $350,000 filly offered by Tom McCrocklin.

Purchased by Sarah and Brandon Bay after breezing in :20.4, the chestnut filly is a half-sister to three winners from four to race out of the stakes winning Windy Forecast. That group includes the stakes winning Gale with her only non-winner placed in his only start at two last year.

Windy Forecast is one of three stakes winners for her own dam Scapegoat, who produced 11 winners overall. The dam of stakes winners Tres Coronas and Descapate, she is also the dam of stakes placed nine-time winner Brocco Bry. Seven of Scapegoat’s daughters produced stakes performers of their own, including five stakes winners.

A $340,000 purchase by Donato Lanni as agent for Frank Fletcher Racing was the most expensive colt by Munnings at the sale.

The Wavertree Stables offering bred by Pam and Martin Wygod is the second goal out of Grade III winner Into Chocolate. That mare is a full sister to the Grade III placed duo of Secret Keeper and Mischief River. There is plenty of blacktype throughout this page with the colt’s third dam the dam of dual Grade I winner Harmonious and two more stakes performers produced by his Grade II winning fourth dam.

Munnings five sold averaged $238,000 with a median of $210,000 with juveniles also selling for $210,000 and $200,000.
