Advance Pharoah Newest Japanese Stakes Winner for Sire
It was an international weekend stakes double for American Pharoah with Advance Pharoah (5h American Pharoah x Fair Huntress, by Tiznow) winning the Coral Stakes in Japan.
Racing over seven furlongs on the dirt when trying to become his sire’s sixth Japanese stakes winner, Advance Pharoah was hustled out of the gate and never looked back. After securing the lead, jockey Seinosuke Yoshimura asked his mount to set a steady pace and Advance Pharoah complied.
Holding a slim margin throughout the race, Advance Pharoah was determined to be the first to the wire and won by half a length in the end.
Trained by Hideyuki Mori for Norihide Kubota, this was the fifth win in 22 starts for Advance Pharoah.
Bred by John Gunther and the American Pharoah Syndicate, Advance Pharoah is out of a half-sister to the Grade III winning dam of Grade I winner Competitionofideas. Advance Pharoah’s own dam is the dam of three winners from three to race as one of three stakes producers out of the stakes placed Beauty’s Due.Beauty’s Due also produced the stakes winning Kolo and stakes placed Taima The Hawk among her nine winners from 11 to race.
American Pharoah is the sire of 53 winners from 80 Japanese runners with his eight stakes performers led by multiple Group I winner Café Pharoah. That colt’s full brother Luxor Cafe won the Listed Hyacinth Stakes in Japan last month.
