Dandona Leads Home Tiz The Law Exacta at Gulfstream

It was a Tiz the Law exacta at Gulfstream on Sunday when Dandona (2f Tiz the Law x Tulsa Queen, by Cactus Ridge) beat That Police (2f Tiz The Law x Boca Inc, by Include) home by half a length.

Racing on the synthetic surface as the race favorite, Dandona was making her debut going a little over a mile after registering two bullets in her last three works. The filly broke well with the rest of the pack before dropping back to race as one of the back two markers well behind the pacesetter.

The last placed runner hooked up Dandona down the backstretch and the two started working their way a little closer before Dandona left the other runner behind going into the turn. Racing wide around the far turn, Dandona was close behind the leaders into the stretch and got the lead inside the final furlong.

That Police closing late encouraged Dandona to find another gear and she responded to get the win.

Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. for Tagermeen Racing, Dandona was a $1.05 million OBS April purchase earlier this year.

She was bred by Spotted Pony Stables out of Cactus Ridge mare Tulsa Queen, who was a two-time stakes winner. The mare is the dam of two winners from two named foals and is a half-sister to the dam of the stakes placed Screen Saver.

Tiz The Law’s 15 juvenile winners this year is second behind only Not This Time. He is also third among second crop stallions with 50 winners on the year.
