Dixie Law Wins Again in G3 Mazarine

It was a second straight stakes win for Dixie Law (2f Tiz The Law x Bit of Dixie, by Union Rags) on Sunday when she won the Gr.3 Mazarine S. at Woodbine.

Looking to get a stakes win on a second surface in the 1 1/16-mile synthetic race after winning on turf last out, Dixie Law was content sitting a few lengths off the pacesetter early on. She stuck within a few lengths of that one throughout the run before urged for a little more around the far turn.

The turn of foot seen in previous races was back on display here as she shot to the lead as the field passed the quarter pole. She protected her lead even more in the final furlong when racing to win by 1 ¼ lengths despite another runner closing late.

Trained by Dale Desruisseaux for Hillsbrook Farms, the Garland Williamson-bred juvenile has now won three of four starts.

This is the first stakes winner out of Bit of Dixie, who has 100% winners to runners from four foals. The mare is a half-sister to Gr.1 placed Past The Point and the stakes placed duo of Cat Five and A Bit of Pressure, who produced Gr.3 winner Classic Rock.

Farther down the page are champion Mr. Hustle and Gr.1 winner I’m a Chatterbox.

This win came just a week after Tiz The Law juvenile Spirit Doll won the Our Dear Peggy to keep up a top level strike rate for Tiz The Law’s second crop of 2-year-olds.
