
Practical Joke Offerings Popular at Keeneland November
It was a strong Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale for Practical Joke when both horses by the stallion and in-foal to the stallion were in high demand with buyers.
His Chilean champion Richi led the charge when Stonestreet went to $1.05 million to buy the Hill ‘n’ Dale offering. A champion juvenile and multiple Gr.1 winner in her native country she had a strong 2025 in the United States where she won two graded stakes and placed in both Gr.1 events she ran in.
The 5-year-old is out of the Gr.2 placed Scat Daddy mare Rich Baby, who is one of four stakes performers for her own dam, led by a Gr.2 winner.
The most expensive weanling by Practical Joke was snapped up by Wesley Ward and Louis Dubois from Eaton for $425,000.
Bred by Lynch Bages and Camas Park Stud, the filly is a half-sister to nine winners from 10 to race out of Aspen Light. That mare’s best runner, the multiple Gr.3 winner and Gr.1 placed Owendale, is by Practical Joke’s sire Into Mischief. Aspen Light is a half-sister to Gr.1 winner Great Hunter and two stakes producers with the group produced by her sisters including the Gr.3 winner Promise Keeper.
Practical Joke also saw his weanlings bring $350,000, $270,000, $270,000, etc. at the sale.
Mares in foal to the top stallion were led by the $750,000 Who’s Ticket.
That Quality Road mare’s ticket was signed by Finn Green with the bloodstock agent purchasing the regally bred mare from Taylor Made. Who’s Ticket is a daughter of champion Take Charge Brandi and a half-sister to the stakes winning Courvoisier. Take Charge Brandi is a half-sister to three-time Gr.1 winner Omaha Beach and Gr.1 placed Courage Under Fire and the dam of stakes winner Tapit Jenallie.
Take Charge Brandi is also a granddaughter of the great Take Charge Lady. That mare’s runners include American Pharoah’s Gr.1 winner As Time Goes By, champion Will Take Charge, and Gr.1 winner Take Charge Indy.
Who’s Ticket’s first foal is a weanling colt by Munnings who sold for $450,000 at this sale.
Other mares in foal to Practical Joke sold for $650,000, $600,000, $500,000, etc.
