Sadie Earp Puts Tiz The Law on Top with Maiden Victory
Sadie Earp (2f Tiz the Law x Conquest Strate Up, by Not Bourbon) relished the Kentucky Downs turf course, breaking her maiden impressively by 3 ¼ lengths to become her sire’s 17th juvenile winner of the year.
After a pair of Saratoga starts – including a close second last out – in Maiden Special Weights this summer, the filly was ready to take command early in the 6 ½ furlong turf race. She was pressured from the time she broke out of the inside post, but she wasn’t going to bow down easily.
The pair entered the far turn together, but Sadie Earp used that time to pull away and have a few lengths on the field in the stretch. Early on, it looked like she may be caught but she quickly found another gear to pull away and win by an easy 3 ¼ lengths.
Trained by Wesley Ward for Arnmore Thoroughbreds and Carl and Yurie Pascarella, Sadie Earp was bred by Pippa’s Hurricane.
Sadie Earp is a half-sister to Mendelssohn’s stakes winning Classical Cat and a full sister to the winning Strate Cash. Their stakes winning dam Conquest Strate Up is now the dam of four winners from five to race.
Conquest Strate Up is the best runner out of four-time winner Deputy, who is a half-sister to Horse of the Year and successful sire Curlin. Another one of Deputy’s daughters produced three-time stakes winner Cactus Joe.
Conquest Strate Up has a yearling colt by Epicenter and a weanling filly by that stallion as well.
Tiz The Law’s 17 2-year-old winners this year now ties him at the top of the Leading Sires of 2-Year-Old list alongside Not This Time. Tiz The Law also leads the list by number of Grade 1 performers and graded stakes performers after having the second and third place finishers in the Grade I Hopeful Stakes.
