
Six for Corniche to Kick off Keeneland September
Champion 2-Year-Old Corniche’s first yearlings are set for the Keeneland September Yearling Sale with six cataloged for Book 2 on Wednesday and Thursday.
The first to go through the ring is the Machmer Hall bred and offered Hip 390 out of Laid Back Lady.
A three-time winner, Laid Back Lady has seen both her runners visit the winner’s circle, led by the stakes placed filly Always At Ease. Always At Ease is following a family tradition with her dam’s half-brother The Groom Is Red having blacktype of his own – in the form of a Grade I victory in the Champagne S. The mare’s half-sister Golden Bright also produced two stakes performers of her own as well.
Under Hip 390’s third dam are Group I winners Where Or When, Air De Rien, and Badger’s Drift.
American Pharoah’s stakes placed My Kentucky Girl is a half-sister to Stonehaven Steadings bred and offered Hip 690.
The yearling is a half-sister to four winners from six to race out of the stakes placed Easy Living, who saw her three-year-old Chatham Up win recently. Easy Living is out of Jaramar Miss, who has been a successful broodmare as well. Her runners include stakes winner Jaramar Rain and Harbor Mist. Jaramar Rain has produced three stakes performers and three other stakes producers with her daughters’ runners including Echo Town’s Grade III placed Three Echoes - who has updated earnings to $163,401 – and Grade III placed Mechaya, who has also increased earnings to $185,788.
Grade II winning third dam Special Warmth has been a successful broodmare with her descendants including Grade I winners Stormello and Marlin.
Haven’s Bloodstock offered Hip 777, the second foal out of Uncle Mo’s Kiss Mo bred by Frank Ables.
That mare is a half-sister to two winners out of six-time stakes winner Kiss Mine, who is in turn one of three stakes winners out of Grade III winner Kiss the Devil. Kiss The Devil produced seven winners overall with her 4-year-old winning again recently. Kiss The Devil is the dam of stakes winner Kiss Moon and stakes winner Mischievous Kiss in addition to the dams of Grade II winner Besharah and three other stakes winners with two of them also placing in Grade IIs.
A half-brother to multiple stakes winner and Puerto Rico champion Modernistic sells as Hip 795 with Blandford Stud.
Bred by Barry and Judith Becker and selling for $200,000 as a weanling, his dam Legendary Peace has five winners from six to race. A mare who has proven to throw consistent runners, her other runners including Grade III placed Siding Spring and stakes placed Fayette Warrior, who has won 25 times with Modernistic a 12-time winner as well.
Legendary Peace is a half-sister to Grade I winner Ermine and stakes winner White Clover with White Clover producing the stakes placed Velvet Crush. Legendary Peace is a 10th generation stakes producer with most of those mares producing multiple stakes performers.
The third foal out of three-time winning War Front mare Peaceful Feeling sells as Hip 855 with Taylor Made Sales.
Bred by Susan Naylor and sold for $200,000 as a weanling, the colt is a grandson of the stakes winning Doo Lang. Doo Lang produced the dam of Grade II placed Grantham among her foals and is a half-sister to the dual stakes winner War Officer, Grade II placed Danceland, and stakes placed Verdura.
Their dam is a half-sister to Group I winner War Command and Group III winner Naval Officer as one of nine winners out of Grade II winner Wandering Star. One of Wandering Star’s unraced daughters is the dam of Grade I winner Hit The Road and Grade II-placed Macanga.

Zarmant is a three-quarter sister to Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Dancing House and a half-sister to stakes winner Too Charming and Grade III-placed Journeyman, who won a 12th race on July 31.
Tout Charmant’s daughters have been successful broodmares as the dams of Grade II winner New and Improved, stakes winner I’m Mom’s Favorite, and Grade III placed All Star Bumb and Toutsie Rules.
