Take Me Serious Wins Another Oklahoma Classic

It was a second straight Oklahoma Classics win for Munnings’ Take Me Serious (6m Munnings x Southern Equity, by After Market) on Friday night when the mare won the Oklahoma Classics Distaff on this year’s card.

Second in a stakes last out, the mare went off as a heavy favorite in the one-mile dirt race for trainer Joe Offolter and immediately entered a duel. She backed off the leader when asked by jockey Richard Eramia but kept the pace honest during the midstages of the race as she waited to mount another challenge.

That challenge came in the stretch when she was set loose and quickly took over. There was no one to catch Take Me Serious in the final furlong and she happily extended her lead to 4 ¾ lengths with the third placed runner 7 ¼ lengths behind her at the line.

This was the eighth win for the Bryan Hawk homebred who has finished in the top three in 20 of her 23 starts for $371,466 in earnings. Among those wins are four stakes victories, including one in last year’s Oklahoma Classics Distaff Sprint.

Take Me Serious is one of four winners from four to race out of the stakes placed Southern Equity. That mare is following a family tradition by producing a stakes performer with her Grade III winning dam Humoristic doing the same. Of Humoristic’s 10 winners, three placed in stakes and she is one of six winners for her own dam.

Munnings has found plenty of success on the track this year with six blacktype winners and 23 blacktype performers.
