Tiz The Law Juvenile Named TDN ‘Rising Star’

It was a Thoroughbred Daily News ‘Rising Star’ performance for Curtain Call (3c Tiz The Law x Deep Trouble, by into Mischief) on Saturday with an impressive Saratoga Maiden Special Weight victory as one of three juvenile winners for Tiz The Law on the day.

The colt stumbled out of the gate in the six-furlong dirt race but quickly put himself just behind the leader. Showing he had plenty of run around the turn, he was shifted a few paths out late at that stage before he was unleashed.

Taking over the lead in upper stretch, he grew his advantage to 8 ½ lengths at the line with the third placed runner 10 ¼ lengths behind him.

The colt has finished first or second in his two starts for Mark Casse and West Point Thoroughbreds after West Point bought him for $325,000 at the OBS March Sale of 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale earlier this year.

Bred by Nancy Stone in Florida, Curtain Call is one of four winners from four to race out of Deep Trouble. That mare is a daughter of the stakes placed Submerge, who is a three-quarter sister to dual Group 1 winner Artemis Agrotera. Artemis Agrotera produced stakes winner Chestertown.

Later in the day, Dixie Law became another juvenile winner for her sire at Woodbine with a 1 1/2 length debut victory. Trained by Dale Desruisseaux for Hillsbrook Farms, she was bred by Garland Williamson. Carolyncaroline was another debut juvenile Maiden Special Weight winner for her sire as well when she won by 2 1/2 lengths at Ellis Park.

These three take Tiz The Law to five juvenile winners on the year, tying him for second among all North American sires.
