Arrow Eagle Lands First Top-Level Success For Gleneagles

Arrow Eagle (4c Gleneagles - Absolutly Me, by Anabaa Blue) landed a first Group 1 win with a fine display in the Prix Royal-Oak at Saint-Cloud on Sunday.

Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, the Waltraut Spanner homebred was picking up a third Group success of the campaign after victories in the Group 2 Grand Prix de Chantilly and Group 3 Prix d'Hedouville earlier in the season.

Arrow Eagle was ridden by Cristian Demuro and the pair were settled towards the rear of the field. The son of Gleneagles was shaken up two and a half furlongs out and came to take the lead in the final furlong.

He won by two lengths from Queenstown (by Galileo), with Sevenna's Knight (by Camelot) in third.

Demuro said: "I’ve taken so much pleasure from riding this family, with Ace Impact and now him.

“To win a Group 1 with Arrow Eagle is incredible. I knew turning in I would have too much for the rest of them and it’s wonderful."
