Juvenile Starspangledbanner Colt Collects Maiden Success

Unauthorized (2c Starspangledbanner - Hergame, by Motivator) got off the mark when running out a comfortable winner at Leopardstown on Saturday.

The Aidan Melia-trained colt was making it fourth time lucky when striking under Rory Cleary, seeing off all challengers for a three-quarter-length score.

Cleary said: “He had a very good run the last day in the Curragh. He finished fifth and finished off his race good and strong.

“Aidan said today to pop out smart and get in a nice forward position, and make the best of your way home.

“He thinks he’ll get a mile in time as well. He did it all nice and easy and picked up smartly for me. He has a good attitude.”
