Juvenile Starspangledbanner Colt Lands Maiden Win

Golden Conqueror (2c Starspangledbanner - Betty F, by Frankel) made it second time lucky when winning comfortably at Newcastle on Tuesday.

The Roger Varian-trained colt made all under Silvestre De Sousa and went clear inside the final furlong to score by two-and-three-quarter-lengths. In third was Tarmonbarry Kid (by Sioux Nation).

Starspangledbanner’s year has been headed by Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine Precise, as well as Group 2 Coventry Stakes winner and dual Group 1-placed Gstaad.

His yearlings at Book 1 of the Goffs Orby Sale this week were headed by a brace of €150,000 colts, including a full-brother to Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes scorer Shandy.
