Juvenile Starspangledbanner Filly Gets Off The Mark
Bessie Wallis (2f Starspangledbanner - Royal Dynasty, by Charm Spirit) gained a first win when striking at Lingfield on Monday.
The David Menuisier-trained filly was stepping down to five furlongs after two efforts over six previously. Ridden by Cieren Fallon, Bessie Wallis raced wide and challenged for the lead two furlongs out and she showed a game attitude to hold on by a neck.
Bessie Wallis was continuing the fine run of form for Starspangledbanner following on from yesterday’s Listed winner Star Of Life and Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud runner-up A Boy Named Susie.
Starspangledbanner's dual Group 1-winning daughter Precise and Group 2 Coventry Stakes victor Gstaad are set to line up at the Breeders’ Cup in Del Mar later this week.
Bessie Wallis was bred by Equispirit.
