More Stakes Success For Daughter Of Starspangledbanner
Aussie Girl (5m Starspangledbanner - Ravissante, by Galileo) landed another black-type victory when capturing the Listed Noble Damsel Stakes at Aqueduct on Sunday.
The five-year-old had landed the Listed Brigid's Pastures Stakes at the Curragh in 2023 when trained by Fozzy Stack and she was also Group 3-placed when second in the Ballyogan Stakes at Naas earlier that campaign.
Now trained by William Walden, Aussie Girl was settled in second under Dylan Davis and took up the lead turning into the home straight. She came home to win her first American stakes contest by a neck.
Walden said: “I thought it was a great ride by Dylan, first and foremost. Saving the ground he could around there, and she never let go of the bit – she’s kind of a difficult filly in that regard.
"If she’s got targets in front of her, she can be keen, and I thought Dylan did a great job getting her to relax as much as he could and allowing her to sprint home, which she needed to do to beat the field she did."
Aussie Girl was bred by Airlie Stud.
