Son Of Churchill Proves A Cut Above In Curragh Group 3
Trustyourinstinct (5g Churchill – Gussy Goose, by Danehill Dancer) followed up last month’s impressive Listed victory with another clearcut success in Saturday’s Group 3 International Stakes at the Curragh.
Sent off favourite under Dylan Browne McMonagle, Joseph O’Brien’s charge tracked the leaders for much of the way and produced a challenge two furlongs from home. Ridden to lead approaching the final furlong, he drew clear to score by three and a quarter lengths.
“You can set your clock by Trustyourinstinct,” said the winning trainer. He turns up and runs his race every day. He is a multiple stakes winner and he loves the Curragh.
“He won at the track on Guineas weekend and he backed it up here up in class and down in trip with a penalty. It wasn't an easy task today. I thought he was impressive and I think that run is right up there with his best.
“I imagine the horse will travel somewhere in the Autumn whether it is to Kentucky for the mile and half, million and half dollar race, or to Australia.”
Owned by JP McManus and bred by Mrs Noreen McManus, the Churchill gelding is now a dual Group 3 winner and three-time Stakes winner overall.
