Son Of Starspangledbanner Picks Up First Win

Freddie's Star (3g Starspangledbanner - Freddie's Girl, by More Than Ready) got off the mark when comfortably winning at Chelmsford on Thursday.

Trained by Roger Teal, the three-year-old had placed on all three of his previous runs, including when a narrow second over course and distance last month.

Freddie’s Star was ridden by Lewis Edmunds and the pair took up the lead after two furlongs before staying on a furlong out to strike by two lengths.

The gelding was bred by Anne Cowley and was continuing his sire's great run of form. Starspangledbanner's winners of late also include Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf victor Gstaad, as well as Fillies' Mile victress Precise and Listed Bosra Sham Fillies' Stakes winner Spicy Marg.
