Son Of Starspangledbanner Strikes At Navan
Slaudeen (2g Starspangledbanner - Private Paradise, by Galileo) became the 21st individual juvenile winner of the year for Starspangledbanner when striking at Navan on Saturday.
The Jessica Harrington-trained gelding was building on three promising efforts earlier this year and showed a tenacious attitude to win by a head from Cactus (by Wootton Bassett).
Assistant trainer Kate Harrington said: "He did [keep finding up the hill] and he's a horse that will ideally go back up to seven [furlongs] in time.
"He hasn't been doing things right in his races, so we just dropped him back to six. He has been gelded and he did everything right today. Shane said he won snug enough in the end, so it is great to see him do that. There's not even a blow out of him there.
"We'll just see what happens with him now, he's a nice horse and we will chat to the team and see where we go next with him."
Slaudeen was bred by Ben Sangster Bloodstock.
