Starspangledbanner Juvenile Makes Smart First Impression

Protection Act (2c Starspangledbanner – Privacy Order, by Azamour) produced a smart debut performance to win Thursday’s seven-furlong novice stakes at Haydock.

The George Boughey-trained newcomer raced towards the back of the nine-runner field and was asked to quicken two furlongs from home. Faced with a wall of horses, he was switched out a furlong later and ran on strongly to lead close home. The winning margin was a length, with another two and three quarter lengths back to the third.

Protection Act carries the colours of Teme Valley Racing and was bought by Richard Ryan as a yearling for 160,000gns. The Starspangledbanner colt was bred by Awbeg Stud.
