Starspangledbanner Juvenile Wins Race With Notable Honour Roll

America (2f Starspangledbanner – Madonnadelrosario, by Caravaggio) built on a promising debut to win Friday’s five-furlong novice stakes at Bath.

The Brian Meehan-trained filly finished third over six furlongs just nine days prior and appeared to appreciate the drop down in trip on her second start. Racing prominently under Jim Crowley, she was ridden to assert two furlongs from home and kept on to win by three parts of a length, with the same distance back to a £350,000 breezer in third.

Adding to the promising nature of her win was that two of the last four winners of the race went on to win the Group 2 Flying Childer Stakes. The daughter of Starspangledbanner was bought by Kerri Radcliffe as a yearling for €190,000 and is now owned by Memo Racing and Peter Leidel. She was bred by Barrownstown Stud out of a half-sister to top-class juvenile The Wow Signal (Starspangledbanner).
