Starspangledbanner’s Gstaad Claims Cartier Two-Year-Old Colt Honours
Gstaad (2c Starspangledbanner - Mosa Mine, by Exceed And Excel) was crowned Cartier Champion Two-Year-Old Colt at the Cartier Awards on Wednesday evening.
The Ballydoyle-trained son of Starspangledbanner had run out a three-length winner of the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot in June before three Group 1 placings in the Prix Morny, National Stakes and Dewhurst.
Gstaad then landed a deserved first top-level success in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar earlier this month.
One of ten top-flight scorers for Starspangledbanner alongside fellow Cartier Award winner Precise, the juvenile was bred by Maywood Stud.
