Starspangledbanner’s Precise Lands Group 1 Honours
Precise (2f Starspangledbanner - Way To My Heart, by Galileo) landed her first Group 1 success in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.
Trained by Aidan O'Brien, Precise was following up a first Pattern victory in the Prestige Fillies' Stakes at Goodwood last month and an easy maiden score at Cork ten days before that.
Ridden by Ronan Whelan, the daughter of Starspangledbanner settled behind the leaders and made up ground from over a furlong out to win by three-quarters of a length. She led a one-two for Coolmore sires with Beautify (by Wootton Bassett) finishing second.
O’Brien said: “Precise is an improving filly who had a lovely run the last day and has come forward a lot. She’s a homebred filly who is out of a Galileo mare with a good pedigree.
“It is probably tough out there making the running [with a strong headwind]. Composing won making the running the last couple of times and we didn’t want to change it too much. Ronan ended up in probably the perfect position and was able to control the race from where he was. She quickened up very well and is growing and maturing all the time.
“The Fillies' Mile could be a possibility for her next.”
Precise was bred by Whisperview Trading Ltd.
