Daughter of Yeats Wins Listed Bumper In Fine Style
Switch From Diesel (6m Yeats – Is She Diesel, by Schiaparelli) quickened clear to her first black-type success in the Listed mares’ bumper at Fairyhouse on Sunday.
Paul Mullins’ homebred was Grade 2-placed last season and added another Grade 2 second to her CV in February. A winner last time out at Naas, the Ross O’Sullivan-trained mare was reunited with Ray Barron on Sunday and raced in touch with the leaders. Travelling strongly with two furlongs left to race, she produced a smart turn of foot when asked a furlong later and soon asserted. She drew clear to score by six lengths, while Future Prospect (Order Of St George) was pipped for second.
“She’s a classy filly and she seems to have improved from run to run as the year went on,” said the winning trainer. “She’s very exciting and she’s probably as good a horse as I’ve had for a while.
“If everything stayed right with her she could be very good next year. The plan is to go to Punchestown and then put her out on summer’s grass and go hurdling next year.”
