Yeats Gelding Makes Impressive Winning Debut Over Hurdles

The exciting Gameball (5g Yeats - By The Hour, by Flemensfirth) made an impressive debut over hurdles when striking at Punchestown on Wednesday.

He had run out a 12 length-winner of a bumper for Andrew Slattery at Ballinrobe this summer and the Yeats gelding put up another similar display on his first start for Henry de Bromhead.

Ridden by Darragh O'Keeffe, Gameball raced in third spot and made smooth headway to take up the lead before the final flight. The pair came home by a comfortable six lengths at the line.

De Bromhead said: “He’d been working nicely. He wouldn’t blow you away at home but the Slatterys said they really liked him and recommended him.

“He did that nicely, so we’ll get him home and go from there.

“Darragh said he was fresh going to the start, so he decided to lock him up on the rail and get him a bit of cover.”

Gameball was bred by Mr D Breen.
