Getaway Gelding Lands Straightforward First Win Over Hurdles

Get On George (5g Getaway - Tri Na Ceile, by Galileo) posted a first win when striking over hurdles at Wetherby on Saturday.

The Joel Parkinson and Sue Smith-trained five-year-old had finished a narrow second in a Hexham bumper in October before finishing a promising fourth on his hurdling debut at Carlisle earlier this month.

Get On George was ridden by Danny McMenamin and the pair went on to justify odds-on favouritism with a length-and-a-quarter success.

The son of Getaway made virtually all and rallied when headed two out to take up the lead after the final flight.
