Getaway Gelding Wins Four-Year-Old Maiden In Style

Sound As A Bell (4g Getaway – Rosie McQueen, by Milan) eased clear to justify favouritism in the second division of Sunday’s four-year-old maiden at Quakerstown.

Fresh from winning the opening division with Harry Lowes (Walk In The Park), Derek O’Connor rode his charge to race prominently in a field of eight. Ridden to lead after the second last, the JP McManus-owned bay kept on well on the run-in to score by six lengths.

Bred by Mrs Noreen McManus, the Getaway gelding had shown promise on debut in February, when finishing third at Oldtown.
