Getaway Mare Delivers On Debut

Cushendall (5m Getaway – My Pollyanna, by Presenting) made a worthwhile trip to Kelso on Sunday when landing the mares’ bumper on her racecourse debut.

The Stuart Crawford owned and trained newcomer was sent off second favourite under Brian Hughes, who held the bay up at the back of the field. Making headway from three furlongs out, she led a furlong later and kept on well to beat the even-money favourite by two lengths.

The daughter of Getaway was bred by Mrs Rita Kent out of a half-sister to Grade 1 hurdler Regent’s Stroll (Walk In The Park).
