Getaway Mare Makes Fine Winning Debut Over Hurdles

Getaway Beo (5m Getaway - Nifty Nuala, by Saddlers' Hall) made an exciting start to her career when running out an easy winner over hurdles at Tipperary on Monday.

The Gordon Elliott-trained five-year-old was in touch with the leaders and took up the lead two hurdles from home. She was two lengths ahead before the final flight and duly pulled clear for a six-length victory.

Winning rider Jack Kennedy said: “She jumped great, travelled away nicely and won nicely.

“It probably wasn’t the strongest race in the world but it was a nice start for her. She’s a fine big mare, probably still has a bit of maturing to do physically. She’s tall and narrow and she’ll be a nice mare when she fills out.

“She’ll definitely go on softer ground but I’m not sure about the depths of the winter.”

Getaway Beo is a homebred for Mark Grace.
