Getaway Sales Topper Destined For Closutton
Bentraghhill (4g Getaway – Itsalark, by Definite Article) shared top billing at the Tattersalls Ireland May Sale when bringing €150,000 from Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins.
Trained by Cormac Abernathy on behalf of Wilson Dennison, the Getaway gelding had shaped with plenty of promise on debut last month, finishing third to a more experienced rival in a four-year-old maiden at Fairyhouse. On this, Kirk commented: “He ran fantastically well for a big horse on his first start, he was only beaten three lengths and he has a lot of filing out to do.
“He has a good pedigree and is a beautiful model. He will go to grass now. He needs time as he’s a big horse. We’ve bought so many Grade 1 winners from Wilson Dennison, at least eight or nine individual Grade 1 horses. We also had Getabird by Getaway, who was a Grade 1 horse too.”
Bentraghhill was bred by Frank Motherway and Kevin Curtin, and sold to Ian Ferguson as a yearling for €40,000. The promising prospect is a half-brother to three-time Listed winner Party Central (Yeats) and Grade 3 victor Craigneiche (Flemensfirth).
