Improving Mares Complete Double For Order Of St George
Queens Secret (5m Order Of St George – She’s On The Case, by Witness Box) became Order Of St George’s second Irish point-to-point winner of the weekend when getting off the mark on Sunday.
Fourth on debut last month, the Aidan Fitzgerald-trained bay was partnered by Troy Walsh in Sunday’s mares maiden at Castlelands. She raced in midfield for much of the way, improving to track the leaders before three out and produced a challenge approaching the second last. She led by the final fence and kept on well to beat Dempsey’s Milan (Milan) by three parts of a length, with all of 31 lengths back to the third horse.
Queens Secret is owned by the Cobajay Syndicate, which is made up of Fitzgerald’s stable staff. Bred by Knocktartan House Stud, she hails from the first crop of Order Of St George, as does Order Of Justice (5m Order Of St George – I Heard It Before, by Fame And Glory), who also won her second start at the weekend.
Trained by Brian Hamilton for Gilmer Bates, the Close Holding-bred mare was partnered by Sam Hamilton in Saturday’s mares maiden at Kirkistown. She looked to have built up a big enough advantage to score, but was forced to fight for it, as She’s Delighted (Vadamos) challenged on the run-in. She kept on to score by a length, with another 10 lengths back to the third.
