Improving Pair Complete Double For Order Of St George

Constantinian (5g Order Of St George – Trinity Rainbow, by Jeremy) took a step forward from his promising debut to win Sunday’s bumper at Market Rasen.

Oliver Signy’s charge made an encouraging start in January, when he finished third, and was sent off second-favourite to build on that effort under Ben Jones. Racing in second for much of the way, he was shaken up to dispute from over two furlongs out and led a furlong later. Pushed out, he kept on well to beat the favourite by three lengths.

Bred by Richard and Martin O’Keeffe, Constantinian is owned by the St George and the Dragon Partnership.

Earlier that afternoon at Kilworth, the aptly-named Kilworth (5m Order Of St George – Be My Gesture, by Indian Danehill) went one better in the maiden for mares aged five years old and upwards.

The John Stauntown owned and trained mare had shaped with promise on debut at Belharbour, where she chased home The Great Unknown, and finished nine lengths clear of the third. She was sent off favourite on her second start and chased the leaders for much of the way under Eoin Mahon. Leading after the second last, she was ridden before the final fence and kept on well to score by two and a half lengths.

The first crop daughter of Order Of St George was bred by Ms P Duggan.
