Order Of St George Mare Rallies For Maiden Victory

Ballylicky Bay (5m Order Of St George – Trendy Native, by Overbury) built on a promising debut to win Sunday’s mares’ maiden for five-year-olds and upwards at Dromahane.

Trained by David Murphy for Jeff Murphy, the bay finished fourth at Lisronagh last month and was reunited with Alan O’Sullivan on her second start. Chasing the leaders for much of the way, she began to make headway from three out and led before the second last. She was forced to dig deep on the run-in, keeping on to deny One Day In May (Idaho) by a short head. The front pair finished 12 and a half lengths clear of the remainder.

Bred by Mrs Mary O'Connor, Ballylicky Bay hails from the first crop of Order Of St George.
