Promising Getaway Gelding Strikes On First Start

Barrow Hill Lad (4g Getaway - Drinks Interval, by King’s Theatre) made a winning start under rules when landing the concluding bumper at Ffos Las on Tuesday.

Trained by Ben Clarke, the four-year-old featured early and took up the lead with a furlong left to run. He pulled clear under Toby McCain-Mitchell to register victory by two and three-quarter lengths.

Barrow Hill Lad, bred by Barrow Hill, was completing a treble on the card for Getaway, who was earlier represented by eye-catching maiden hurdle scorer Kalkbrenner and Surrey Lord, who struck in the two-mile handicap hurdle.
