Promising Order Of St George Mare Gets Off The Mark
Bossing It (5m Order Of St George – Is Herself About, by Flemensfirth) made a successful return to action in Monday’s maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan.
Trained by David O’Brien for owner/breeder Peter Tarrant, the five-year-old was last seen at Punchestown in January, when she finished fifth to the well-regarded Maughreen (Walk In The Park). Dropping back to two miles on return, she was sent off second favourite under Simon Cavanagh and raced in midfield for much of the way. Improving to chase the leaders from two out, she was pushed along to lead before the final flight and was ridden out to score by three and a quarter lengths. The front pair finished 12 lengths clear of the remainder.
The winning trainer reported: “Simon said she got under the second last and she found plenty for him from the last.
“She got boxed in for Rob James in a bumper at Cork and then she ran a lovely race in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown. It was heavy ground and we decided to give her a break to strengthen her up a bit and it seems to have paid off.”
