Smart Four-Year-Old Winner By Order Of St George
Skerry Hill (4g Order Of St George – Angel Lopez, by Flemensfirth) justified strong market support on debut on Saturday, when he drew clear in the four-year-old maiden at Farmacaffley point-to-point.
Ridden prominently by Oran McGill, the Cormac Abernethy-trained newcomer was asked for extra after the second last. The bay jumped the final fence well and kept on to score by eight lengths.
Bought by Ian Ferguson as a foal for €40,000, Skerry Hill was bred by Liam Queally and is owned by Wilson Dennison. He hails from the second crop of Order Of St George, whose first point-to-point winners resold for up to £350,000. As a result, the Castlehdye Stud sire’s second crop sold for up to €110,000 at the store sales.
