Son Of Getaway Captures £100,000 Chase
Docpickedme (9g Getaway – Hard Luck, by Old Vic) led home a 1-2-3 for Coolmore NH sires in the £100,000 Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster on Saturday.
Narrowly denied in a Class 2 chase over course and distance last month, Richard Hobson’s charge was partnered by Charlie Maggs for the first time on Saturday. The bay raced in second for much of the three mile chase, led before the fourth last and was ridden when challenged at the next. In command after the final fence, he was ridden out to beat the favourite The Changing Man (Walk In The Park) by two and a quarter lengths, with another two lengths back to Snipe (Soldier Of Fortune) in third. The trio finished 14 lengths clear of the rest of the field.
Saturday marked an eighth career success for Docpickedme, whose maiden victory came in a four-year-old maiden for Ellmarie Holden. The son of Grange Stud sire Getaway is owned by R Key and was bred by TJ Hurley.
