Son Of Getaway Off The Mark Over Hurdles

Matty's Getaway (6g Getaway - Shadow Eile, by Beneficial) landed his first win over hurdles with a ready success at Doncaster on Friday.

The son of Getaway had captured a Ballycrystal maiden point-to-point by five lengths for Donnchadh Doyle last winter and added a first victory under rules with a four-and-a-half-length strike for Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls.

Ridden by Ciaran Gethings, Matty's Getaway travelled strongly behind the leaders before taking up the lead approaching the final flight. He quickened up for a comfortable success.

Nicholls said: "I thought Ciaran Gethings was excellent today, particularly on Matty's Getaway, giving him a chance a long way up the straight and he finished strongly.

"He got stuck in the mud a bit last time at Chepstow so we were keen to give him a chance today."
