Unbeaten Getaway Gelding Lands Impressive Debut Win Over Hurdles

Nadia's Boy (5g Getaway - Just Janice, by King’s Theatre) maintained his unbeaten record with an impressive debut victory over hurdles at Listowel on Friday.

The Willie Mullins-trained five-year-old was a winner of his sole point-to-point at Ballysteen last year for Aidan Fitzgerald and he was following up from a Kilbeggan bumper score for Mullins in June.

Ridden by Paul Townend, the son of Getaway made all and jumped slickly to register an easy five-and-a-half-length success. In second was Frankie John (by Walk In The Park).

Townend said: "I was impressed with him and especially with his jumping, which was like a handicapper. He was taking lengths out of his rivals everywhere so I think the addition of an obstacle in front of him has brought him on a long way.

"He quickened up nicely and then coasted home on the run-in. It was his jumping that I enjoyed and while I hadn't schooled him, I was told by the lads that he jumps well. He also came out of a good home [Aidan Fitzgerald] so has a lot of jumps jumped.

"Niall Flynn [breeder] doesn't miss too often either and you're giving yourself every chance when you get good stock like that."
