Wings Of Eagles Gelding Notches Maiden Victory

Kiely’s Place (5g Wings Of Eagles – Become Legend, by Mahler) continued the smart start made by Wings Of Eagles’ first Irish crop when getting off the mark at Bandon point-to-point on Sunday.

The Eugene O’Sullivan-trained gelding faced nine rivals on his second career start in the five-year-old geldings’ maiden, where he was partnered by Alan O’Sullivan. A fine jump at the final fence and game attitude on the run assured victory for the bay, as he beat The Kite Runner (Milan) by a short head, the pair rallying two and a half lengths clear of the third.

Kiely’s Place was bred by Deborah Hobson and hails from the first Irish crop by Wings Of Eagles. Responsible for four flat stakes horses from his sole French crop, his current five-year-olds include Listed bumper winner Churchfield Sunset and black-type hurdler The Great Nudie.
