Wings Of Eagles Mare Lands Easy Cheltenham Success

Leloopa (5m Wings Of Eagles - Walkthefirth, by Flemensfirth) continued her progress with a clear-cut victory over hurdles at Cheltenham on Friday.

The Fergal O'Brien-trained five-year-old was picking up the fourth win of her career after scores at Hereford and Huntingdon last year, while she was also a wide-margin winner at Kelso in March.

Ridden by Tom Broughton, Leloopa was held up in rear but made headway when travelling easily two flights out. The pair came to lead approaching the last and kept on well for a four-and-three-quarter-length success.

O’Brien said: “She was an amazing buy by Paddy [Brennan], this mare is unbelievable – she’s a pony.

“I’m delighted for Tom Broughton, he rides her at home and she’s not easy – you have to dance to her tune a little bit.

“It’s great for Paddy and the syndicate. Paddy went to the start to be with her. He buys them very well, he doesn’t pay fortunes for them and lets us get on with the job, which is half the battle.”

Leloopa was bred by The Beeches Stud.
