Wings Of Eagles Newcomer Delivers At Quakerstown

The Derek O’Connor-trained Jim Thorpe (5g Wings Of Eagles – Pats Pet, by Flemensfirth) produced a smart debut performance to land the finale at Quakerstown on Sunday.

Having ridden five winners earlier on the card, two of which he trained, O’Connor was well-backed in the maiden for five-year-olds and upwards. Chasing the leaders in the early stages, Jim Thorpe improved to lead from five out and kept on well approaching the final fence. Eased down on the run-in, he led by a length and a half on the line.

The son of Beeches Stud sire Wings Of Eagles is owned by Carol O’Connor and was bred by Patrick Hayes.
