$350,000 Jack Christopher Colt On Top at Fasig-Tipton

Jack Christopher’s first yearlings were the most in-demand offerings of this year’s Fasig-Tipton July Sale with his 10 going through the ring led by a $350,000 sale-topping colt.

Offered by Buckland Sales as the second at the sale for his sire, the colt was snapped up by China Horse Club and Maverick Racing, who also bought a $110,000 Jack Christopher colt later that day.

The $350,000 Susan King-bred colt is a three-quarter brother to Munnings’ Norwich, who won again after the catalog was released. He was the first runner for two-time winner Above The Crowd, who is one of five winners out of Tacticmove.

That mare also produced multiple stakes winner Good Luck Gus and the dam of stakes winner Texas Long Bow. Tacticmove is a daughter of multiple Grade I winner Strategic Maneuver, who also produced Grade II winner Cat Fighter and Group III winner Ishiguru in addition to the dams of Grade III winners Jennifer Lynnette and Shumoos.

“He was our favorite horse of the sale,” said WinStar's Elliott Walden. “We stretched a bit for him, but he was a beautiful colt.”

Kenny McPeek went to $270,000 for a Lane’s End offered colt out of Inviting, the fifth most expensive yearling of the day.

Bred by St. Elias Stables, this is the first foal out of his Union Rags dam. That mare was a multiple placed half-sister to the stakes placed duo of High Tech and Power Move. They come through their success honestly – their three-time winning Giant’s Causeway dam is a daughter of Grade I winner Pleasant Home.

Pleasant Home not only produced Grade I placed Pleasant Orb among her two stakes performers and eight winners but produced the dam of three-time Grade I winner Guarana and Grade III winner Beatbox. Pleasant Home is also a half-sister to the dam of five-time Grade I winner Point of Entry an Pine Island.

Flying Dutchman was the buyer of a $200,000 colt out of L Bee offered by Taylor Made.

The first foal out of his dam, this Ramspring Farm-bred’s page received an update when L Bee’s stakes placed half-sister Knarsdale saw daughter Seismic Beauty win the Grade II Santa Margarita in late May. L Bee is also a half-sister to the stakes placed American Lincoln and out of Grade III placed Secret File.

L Bee’s granddam Emery Board was a stakes winner who produced two stakes producing daughters and is also one of four stakes performers out of Grade III winner Cosmic Tiger.

Jack Christopher’s yearlings also sold for $180,000, $150,000, $110,000, etc. with an average of $162,778 and median of $150,000 – both well above the sale statistics.
