Jack Christopher Yearlings In Demand During Second Week of Keeneland September
A pair of $260,000 yearlings led the way for Jack Christopher when the Keeneland September Yearling Sale’s second week got under way with 26 of his yearlings bringing six figures in Book 3 and later.
Dark and Stormy Stables was the buyer of a filly out of Ladies Night from Moreau Bloodstock, who bred the filly with Redmon Farm.
The filly’s dam was a multiple Grade III-placed runner, who has produced a three-time winner from one to race. Ladies Night herself is one of multiple winners out of a daughter of Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Roxelana. Roxelana joins Grade III winner Tiger as stakes winners out of Itstimetocelebrate, who won a stakes of her own and is a granddam of two other stakes performers.
Ladies Night foaled a filly by Jack Christopher’s studmate Golden Pal this year.
JAS and Costa won a bidding war on Hip 1511, a colt offered by VanMeter Sales out of Etching.
Bred by Grantley Acres and sold for $150,000 as a weanling, the colt is a half-brother to Justify’s winning Relevant. The pair are out of a daughter of Grade I Kentucky Derby winner Summerly, who produced Grade III-placed Allez Marie and stakes placed Kentucky Reign among her eight winners. Allez Marrie went on to produce five stakes performers with her daughter Running Away winning the Grade III Monmouth Oaks after the catalog was released.
Summerly is one of two stakes performers and two stakes producers for her own dam with one of her winning half-sisters producing five stakes performers herself.
Jack Christopher’s other second week yearlings sold for $250,000, $250,000, $235,000, etc. with his 89 sold at the sale averaging $109,669, led by a $500,000 colt.
