Evergreen Practical Joke Runner Earns First Stakes Victory

Practical Joke’s Accretive (6g Practical Joke x Mallory Street, by Street Sense) registered a well-deserved first stakes victory on Saturday with a win in the Evangeline Mile Stakes.

Trainer Joe Sharp shipped him to Evangeline for this one-mile dirt race and Accretive proved ready to run.

The experienced runner was happy to watch the race for the lead from the back of the field with only a few horses beat until they hit the far turn. It was at that point that he turned on the speed to challenge the leader and the battle began.

Accretive and Kupuna stayed head-to-head for much of the stretch before Accretive inched ahead to win by three quarters of a length in the end.

The earner of $496,438, Accretive races for Carl R. Moore Management and has hit the board in 12 of 19 starts. His placings include seconds in the Grade II Amsterdam Stakes and Grade II Vosburgh Stakes, in addition to a third in the Grade II Forty Niner Stakes.

Bred by Falcon Wood Partners, he is out of the stakes placed Mallory Street, who has produced three winners from four to race. His family also includes multiple Grade I winner Got Stormy and Grade I winner Randomized among others.

Accretive is the seventh stakes winner of the year for Practical Joke, tying him with his sire Into Mischief and Not This Time in second on the General Sires list in the category.
