Jack Christopher Carries Momentum into Keeneland September

Jack Christopher has seen his first yearlings well received at the sales this summer and buyers will have even more chances to buy horses by the stallion this month with the Keeneland September Yearling Sale including 21 Jack Christopher yearlings in the first two books.

He kicks off the sale with a Book 1 offering in Hip 19, a filly out of Little Hidden Gem.

Bred by Stone Bridge Farm, the filly’s dam is a half-sister to the champion Jackie’s Warrior and stakes winner White Sands. They are out of the tough 19-time winner Unicorn Girl, who is a half-sister to 18-time winner Bernie the Maestro. That runner’s wins include three stakes victories.

Out of the stakes winning Horah for Bailey, Unicorn Girl’s other siblings include the stakes winning duo of Turbo and Reaper, Grade III-placed Richard the Great, and stakes placed Awesome Mass. Horah For Bailey has been a prolific broodmare in her career with 12 winners overall. Her daughters are also following in her footsteps with one of Unicorn Girl’s sisters producing the Colleen Stakes third Nacho Problem this year.

A half-brother to multiple Grade 2 winner Major Dude sells as Hip 418 with breeder Clearsky Farms.

The page could have a big update only days before he goes through the ring with his half-brother running in Saturday’s Grade III Mint Millions Invitational Stakes. Major Dude already provided his half-brother a post-catalog update when finishing third in the Grade II United Nations this summer to take his earnings to over $1.2 million. The pair are out of the stakes placed Mary Rita, whose stakes placed full sister Unbound produced Justify’s Grade I winner Arabian Lion.

Mary Rita’s granddam is the undefeated champion Personal Ensign, who produced Grade I winners My Flag, Miner’s Mark, and Traditionally among eight stakes performers. Those descending from Personal Ensign also include champions Storm Flag Flying and Poseidon and Grade I winners Mr. Speaker and Seeking The Soul.

A half-brother to three stakes performers from four winners out of Blue Gallina sells as Hip 635 with Woods Edge Farm.

A $350,000 weanling purchase bred by Wynnstay and Allen Poindexter, the colt is a half-brother to Grade II winner Can Group, Grade III winner Flat Out Speed, and stakes placed Bonnieview. Can Group added an update with a victory after the catalog was released, but the biggest update came from Flat Out Speed. That mare’s daughter Flat Out Time finished third in the Grade III Prioress Stakes to add farther blacktype to the page.

Flat Out Time is the 10th stakes performer on the page with the group led by Grade I winner Victory Speech and four other stakes winners.

The first foal out of Frosted mare Frost Lake sells as Hip 722 with Hunter Valley Farm.

This Nancy Shuford-bred colt sold for $200,000 as a weanling and is a grandson of multiple Grade III winner Lakenheath. That mare produced multiple stakes winner Decorated Soldier, stakes winner and Grade I-placed The Truth Or Else and multiple stakes placed Fighter Wing. Fighter Wing produced multiple Grade III winner Glass Ceiling while another Lakenheath daughter produced stakes winners Forever Liesl and Sound Machine and a third daughter produced Grade 3-placed Frontier Market.

A Jack Christopher half-brother to dual Grade I winner Mindframe sells as Hip 977 with Betz Thoroughbreds.

Bred in Virginia by Larry Johnson, the colt’s stakes winning dam Walk of Stars is also the dam of Hollywood Walk, who became a stakes winner in the Andy Guest S. after the catalog was released, among her four winners. Walk of Stars is a fourth-generation stakes producer with her dam producing stakes winner and multiple Grade II-placed Strike The Moon and two other stakes performers. One of those produced Munnings’ dual stakes winner Never Enough Time – making that filly closely related to this offering.

This family also includes multiple Grade II winner Future Is Now, who won both the Grade III Caress Stakes and Smart And Fancy Stakes this summer. In all, there are 17 stakes winners under this colt’s first four dams with 16 other stakes performers as well.

Bridie Harrison offers Energizing for breeder Peter Blum as Hip 1082.

The colt out of winning mare Electric is a half-brother to two winners from two to race with three-time winner Green Light a multiple stakes placed runner and her other winner Charging stakes placed as well. Electric is one of six winners out of Monarchos’ full sister Mon Belle.

That mare produced stakes winner and Grade III placed Supreme and stakes placed Spark. Supreme went on to produce Grade I winner Silver State with Spark producing stakes winner and Grade III-placed Launch. Another Mon Belle daughter produced the stakes winning Fast Scene and stakes placed Make a Scene in addition to the dam of stakes placed T Max.

Jack Christopher is set to have one offering in Book 1 and 20 in Book 2 during the first week of the sale.
